Checking in

I want to start this blog so I can reflect daily without the self-consciousness that social media brings me. I can post here without feeling like I’m inundating Facebook or Instagram with obnoxious or repetitive posts.

Today I don’t have a lot to say. I’m currently working on bringing down “overdues” on my caseload at my job and I’m focused on a Transformation Challenge at my gym, OrangeTheory Fitness. It’s a blessing to be a part of my gym’s community – the continuous engagement helps me be consistent.

When the new year started, I thought that maybe I would get back into music by taking guitar lessons. I booked it and then I cancelled it. I realized if I was willing to spend so much time on learning a new instrument, I should actually dedicate that time to taking care of myself in more basic ways: exercise, meal preparation, stretching, meditation. These are things I kind of do… but I’m not that great at any of them. And they all take a lot of time on their own. So those are the things I’m focused on right now. I think the blog will primarily consist of that with some random thoughts, photos, and rants.

For today, I’m posting two pictures of meal preparation I did this week. Mainly because I’m proud. Although, I think I prepped too much chicken…I’m realizing I need to get more used to cooking in small quantities…especially since Brian’s appetite isn’t that consistent so I often make too much and then I feel obligated to eat it so I don’t waste it.

I’m going to try to end each post on a positive thought.

Today I am grateful for a helpful co-worker, flexible job, great workout, and my upcoming cuddle date with my lovely life partner.
